Ministries : Missions - Operation Christmas Child
![]() |
The congregation of Mount Zion Baptist Church supports Operation Christmas Child. Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse that is directed by Franklin Graham. The project collects gift-filled shoe boxes and distributes them along with the Good News of God’s love to millions of children in desperate situations around the world. This unique project provides each person within our church an opportunity to be involved in a simple, hands-on missions outreach while focusing on the true meaning of Christmas-Jesus Christ, God’s greatest gift. Along with the shoe box gifts the millions of children are also given Gospel booklets in their own language. Last year, Samaritan’s Purse collected over 7.6 million shoe boxes and distributed them to children in 95 countries. We at Mount Zion filled 89 of those boxes. We also sent a picture of our children along with our address in each box. We have been blessed to receive two letters from the children that received one of our boxes. You can see the pictures of the children and read their heart touching letters below. It’s easy to get involved! We continually collect items year round in order to fill as many boxes as possible. Each month a list is updated with how many more of each item is needed, just purchase what you wish and place it in the collection box. Individual families also have the opportunity to fill their own boxes at home and bring to the church for delivery to one of the drop off points in November, the collection list can be used as a reference as to what to place in your box. Our goal this year is 125 boxes. If you would like to contribute to the Operation Christmas Child project please contact us by email here: Operation Christmas Child Or by phone here: 423-753-2885

This letter from Trinity Anayawa's family in Zambia, Central Africa dated May 5, 2007
34 Likute Way Mount Zion Baptist Church, Note that Trinity Anayawa has received her Christmas shoe box gift filled with the goodies from you through Cheshire homes. We pray and thank the Lord for that. Trinity is very happy and comfortable with the gift. Having seen the photography of the children from your church, as a family we have also decided to send Trinity's photograph that was taken on 3rd May 2007. At the age of eight she is still unable to see, talk or walk but can hear. She was born with a congenital multificial deformity that you will see on her face. She had a deep depression on her forehead, a cleft palate on the right side of her nose. We still look forward to hear more from your church. Read Mathew chapter 5 verses 6 -9. May God bless your church Regards from Trinity's family |
